Books written by Quintin & Audrey Thede

The past still lives. Enjoy it in the short stories written by friends and neighbors in Outagamie Co. and other areas of the state that Quintin & Audrey Thede have compiled and published in their three books.

Outagamie County Detention Camp of Shiocton, WI

A precise history of the Outagamie County Detention Camp has been compiled by Quinton Thede, with the support and assistance of his wife, Audrey. Quintin and Audrey have been faithful members of our congregation for many years. Quintin did a exemplary job of painstakingly researching the news accounts of the Camp and compiling this thorough history. The camp was located just north of Shiocton, in the Township of Bovina. We share this history here on the internet as a way of reaching a wider audience, giving them the information that will certainly dispel myths long held about the camp, it's purpose, and the composition of those interned there.

A History of Shiocton, Wisconsin - by Harriet Wilkinson

This is a history of Shiocton, written by Harriet Wilkinson, edited by Francis Gunderson. It was published in the Hortonville Star in 1967 and 1968. (This history is being republished here with gracious permission of the New London Press Star Newspaper.) Eighty two chapters in all, this history is easily the most comprehensive you'll find about our town.

Shiocton Pamphlet - 1904

In 1904, the real estate agents of Boynton and Terrill printed a pamphlet "hawking" the business opportunities available in Shiocton. While their objective was to attract more business enterprises to this "up and coming" village, their pamphlet offers insight into the economic and social landscape in Shiocton, over 100 years ago.
